In these dark times, groceries are the most important thing we need to survive. The one essential trip to the supermarket per week is something that will keep businesses open during this pandemic. As I live near to Washington Galleries I have created a proposal involving small minibus services to and from the ASDA and Sainsbury’s supermarkets that are there.
The W1 and W2 would be two circular services that would connect the Villages of Lambton, Ayton & Oxclose to The Galleries whilst also serving Wear and Crowther Industrial Estates.
The W3 would connect the Villages of Blackfell, Albany, Concord, Donwell & Coach Road Estate to The Galleries whilst also serving Armstrong Industrial Estate for B&Q and Aldi.
The W4 would connect Harraton, Rickleton, Portobello, Barley Mow & Birtley to The Galleries.
The W5 would connect Glebe, Washington Village, Barmston, Sulgravr & Concord to The Galleries whilst also serving Peel Retail Park for Clays, Lidl, Screwfix & B&M Bargains.
All of the services mentioned above would operate between 7am and 6pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays. During these times each service will be running once an hour, using 16 to 22 seat electric or hybrid minibuses equipped with Leather Seats, Wi-Fi, USB Charging Sockets & Next Stop Announcements.
